Move out of the way Beauty Bloggers - The Cleaning Queens are here!

A wave of influencers are taking over social media, in particular Instagram. Instead of plugging their favourite eye shadows and sharing contouring tips, they're posting their advice for squeaky-clean surfaces and how to achieve that picture perfect show home.

Unlike the world of beauty bloggers, cleaning influencers value function over form and focus their content on cleaning your home in the simplest and most cost-effective way possible.

Mrs Hinch

Sophie Hinchcliffe is a self-proclaimed ‘cleaning crazy’ woman from Essex, whose desire for cleaning has gained her an army of fans. Known as Mrs Hinch, 28-year-old Sophie’s top tips have gained her over 2.5 m followers on Instagram.

Sophie 'Mrs Hinch' Hinchcliffe is arguably one of the most successful bloggers and has an army of fans who she calls her 'Hinch Army'.

Fans will flock to buy her book, try out her must have cleaning products and will actively post images of themselves ‘hinching their homes’. When some of my friends first started speaking to me about ‘hinching’ their homes and the latest cleaning tips Mrs Hinch had posted, I thought it was all rather bizarre.

I work for a cleaning supplies company (If you hadn’t already realised) and I just couldn’t get my head around the fact that people were looking forward to cleaning their homes and then posting the before and after images on their pages.

I must admit that I have found myself furiously looking round different stores to try and source the famous Pink Stuff that Sophie swears by. You can imagine my joy when here at The Cleaning Collective we started stocking it. (We have plenty in stock so fill your baskets, we even stock it in cases of 12!!). I now genuinely do get excited about cleaning my home and trying out the products that Sophie recommends.

Decluttering

Influencers have been focusing their attention on decluttering as a way to maintain a clean home. This makes perfect sense as it is much easier to clean your home when it is already tidy. A tidy home also instantly looks cleaner, in the age of Instagram, looks are at the top of the priority list, even for the most practical people amongst us.

Although the focus is on decluttering and organising, the influencers have a keen eye for bargains and love buying in bulk. Often the cleaning bloggers such as @mrshinchhome and @thisgirlcanorganise will share with their followers where to grab a bargain and where is best to buy in bulk.

If you want to start your own cleaning revolution with simple and affordable products, The Cleaning Collective have a large range of housekeeping products that can be delivered right to your door.

Changes in what and how we buy

High street store Savers reports that sales of its household products have risen by 11 per cent so far this year. Influencers including Mrs Hinch often promote Savers and their value housekeeping products. One item that the army of hinchers rush to savers for is The Pink Stuff.

Consumers are now buying in bulk more; they know what products they want (the ones that the influencers recommend) so are stocking up. Even products such as toilet roll, which we would typically pick up with our weekly shop is now getting bought in bulk. Take The Cleaning Collective for example- you can buy a case of 64 toilet rolls for only £14.97, that’s just over 23p a roll. You would struggle to pick up a quality toilet roll for that price in the supermarkets and at least buying this way- you know that you won’t run out!

Here to stay or just a craze?

There are many different crazy internet crazes that hit our social media platforms, go wild for a few weeks and then fizzle out. (Did you see our attempt of the Bin Bag challenge? Check it out on our Fcaebook page, it’s really rather funny and you have a chance of winning a brand new Nuvac Vacuum). I feel however that the cleaning influencers are going from strength to strength and are having a positive impact on both how we shop and how we clean. Watch this space as I think they are here to stay and I’m excited to see what’s round the corner….

What do you think? Have you changed the way you clean because of influencers such as Mrs Hinch? Do you buy products based on what they recommend? We’d love to hear from you- head over to our Facebook page and leave us a comment, then you’ll be in with a chance of winning your very own copy of the Mrs Hinch Clean Yourself Happy book.

Have a great week everyone and have fun hinching your homes.
