COVID-19: keeping your home clean
Keeping clean is essential to preventing the spread of coronavirus. Washing our hands properly (for 20 seconds and on a regular basis) has been widely publicised since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.
But how should you clean your home?
We've put together all you need to know, following the advice of Public Health England, to help you keep your home clean:
Clean in two stages - first clean all surfaces with warm soapy water and a disposable cloth. Then disinfect these areas with your regular household products. Remember to focus on frequently touched areas, such as bathrooms, grab-rails and door handles.
Wear disposable/washing up gloves and aprons for cleaning - once cleaning is complete, double bag the items, store securely for 72 hours and then dispose in regular waste.
Wash hands regularly using soap and water - do this for 20 seconds, after removing gloves, apron and any other PPE.
Heavily contaminated areas - wear protective equipment covering the eyes, mouth and nose as well as gloves and an apron.
Cleaning after a person with suspected coronavirus (COVID-19) has left the area will reduce risk of transmission of the virus.
